Hello Bond Twenty readers!

My name is Haley. I am a growing health and wellness blogger from beautiful San Diego. (Check out my Trendiest Coffee Shops in San Diego Roundup!) I created The Balanced Life this past August. You can find easy, healthy recipes to make if you’re in a hurry on weekdays to feed the family or beautiful dinners to impress your guests! I love creating new healthy recipes in my kitchen, trying out new brunch spots with hubby, Jake and pup, Kora, and reading because you can never stop learning!

Sunday with Haley Jaenicke

9 AM

I love sleep. The second the weekend rolls around I just want to drink my iced almond milk latte in bed while watching Friends and cuddling with Jake and Kora all morning. When I’m hungry enough I’ll finally decide on which trendy brunch spot we will try next. The best thing about San Diego is that there is always a new, hot restaurant to try!

11 AM

I am super easy when getting ready. I freshen up with Hask Chia Seed Dry Shampoo. This stuff is everything! Smells amazing and gives my hair life! I wash my face with Alba Botanica Hawaiian Face Cleanser, use organic witch hazel as a toner, followed by Trader Joe’s paraben free 15 SPF sunscreen. It’s under $5 and so moisturizing!


We made it to Claire’s on Cedro’s. It’s a San Diegans favorite staple lunch spot, always worth the wait! They have an array of breakfast and lunch items, best of all Claire’s is dog friendly and gluten-free friendly! We ordered the Tuscan benedict, the quinoa benedict, and the gluten-free chocolate chip pancakes. It was heavenly and all gluten free!


I always try to squeeze in a Farmer’s Market run on the weekends. Solana Beach has a wonderful one on Sundays open from 12-5pm! We walked out of Claire’s and right over to the Sunday market to gather fresh organic berries, grounding vegetables like mushrooms and sweet potatoes, and of course fresh flowers! I love grabbing some eucalyptus to hang in my shower for a spa like experience every time I shower. So relaxing and great for congestion during this season of transitioning from fall to winter.

When we arrive home I’ll throw some organic chicken in the crockpot for chicken tacos!


I’ll start making preparing lunch for Monday. I don’t prep my meals a week out but I do pack a fresh lunch the night prior, know what snacks I’ll have and make sure my can’t-live-without Corkcicle bottle is clean and ready for the day ahead! My lunch tomorrow will be a spinach salad with goat cheese, walnuts, dried cranberries and a balsamic vinaigrette with organic grilled chicken breast. I’ll also pack a small sweet potato I top with olive oil, salt and pepper. My snacks is usually the same for the season – an organic gala apple and ¼ cup of a nut mix – Trader Joe’s has so many options I love changing it up. Sometimes the mix has dried pineapple and sometimes I am craving something richer and go for the one with dark chocolate pieces mixed in!


Crockpot chicken will be ready to enjoy! I’ll throw it into some tortillas and top with fresh quac and cilantro! So delicious! Recipe coming soon to the blog, stay tuned!

9:30 PM

I’ll wind down by making some herbal tea, check my planner for the week, and I always check the weather to mentally pick out my outfit for the next day. I’ll read a few pages of Relentless until I can’t keep my eyes open anymore and start dreaming about adventure to be had next Sunday!
